AREAS OF INTEREST
Cynthia has experience supporting clients with a broad range of issues, including depression/anxiety, divorce/stepfamily adjustment, ADHD and other learning differences, single adult issues, marital/relationship problems and grief/loss recovery. She works with adults, children over age 5 and adolescents in individual, couple or family sessions.
PROCESS
At the initial meeting a family history is gathered and the presenting problem is discussed. The client sets goals for change and considers whether to include anyone else in the work. An assessment of the client’s spiritual life may be a part of this work and, if desired, Cynthia will work with him or her to discover how he might grow his spiritual connections and feel closer to God.
Cynthia works from a family systems perspective, believing that we are all shaped by our past but not doomed by it and that we can all change as long as we’re breathing. Change is usually much harder than we think, however, and Cynthia is committed to helping each client acquire the tools needed to create change in his/her life. This may involve learning strategies for altering one’s thinking, healing emotional wounds or changing the ways one relates to others. Her deepest intention is to create a safe, honoring space for clients so that they will feel supported and valued as they venture into often painful territory.
Cynthia accepts many insurances and will bill them directly, although the client remains responsible for the bill should the policy not cover her services. Please follow the link to her practice forms which differ somewhat from the others in the group because of the insurance factor.
